The Many Faces of Eggplant

Took a thai cooking class today. The intructor Meow (I know, cutest name ever) took me on her motorbike to the local market and we wandered up and down the isles playing name-that-vegetable. This pic on the right is an eggplant! I learned lots of new things. Like, Thais consider the flower on the banana tree a delicacy. Often, those funny chewy things in soup are actually coconut or banana tree bark. They cut the whole tree down and harvest every part of it. Also, the favorite chili pepper here is the Bird's Eye Chili. Small and red with faint green streaks. Look what I made! I know it's not that pretty but I still wok'd my ass off!
